Ocean Crossing

The calm after the storm!

Logged by Brian Bell Mediterranean -- about 32 nm East of Gibraltar

Very dynamic long sail from Cartagena to Marbella (210 NM). Put up the big ass sail (Code k) (IT IS HUGE) and had some fun. Nellie (the boat) was having fun. Generating about 10 knots, in moderate seas, with a great sailing wind. Not a sail steve uses too much...it is about a 30 minute rigging job. When I asked him how much wind was "too much" he estimated about 15 knots of apparent wind. Well the answer is more like 12:). I am nursing some rope burns, shoulder, and a few other lacerations. All good...life of a sailor I guess. I am much better off than Magellan in his crossing from Spain around the world.

Well the good news is 12 hours later I worked the sunset watch...and what a treat I had. Watching the sun come up on the Med...while a pod of Dolphins swam next to me welcoming me and steve to another awesome day in our lives. Every day is a blessing:).
